It’s easy to get used to making decisions on the fly—what to say, where to go, what to take on next. Most of the time, we rely on logic, experience, or what seems right. But the word of God gives a different approach:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5–6
That’s not just about the big choices. It says in all your ways. That includes everyday decisions we usually don’t think twice about.
Take this simple example: Someone says something that upsets you. Your first instinct might be to fire back quickly, but if you seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance, you may choose a different response. That small decision can prevent unnecessary conflict.
Jesus even instructed the disciples not to leave Jerusalem until they received the Holy Spirit. They witnessed great and powerful miracles, resurrections, and the impossible becoming possible, but that wasn’t enough. They needed the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and so do we, especially in today’s time. Seek the Spirit of God in your conversations, relationships, opportunities, and in every decision. Just because something is available doesn’t mean it’s assigned to you.
Living this way doesn’t have to be complicated. Trusting God over your own understanding will always lead you to the right path.
