A ‘do not resuscitate’ (DNR) order is a medical directive that instructs healthcare providers not to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) if a patient’s breathing or heartbeat stops. It’s a way to specify that CPR or other life-prolonging treatments should not be initiated in the event of cardiac or respiratory arrest.
This is a matter of decision, and it’s a personal decision even if family members or friends don’t agree because they don’t want their loved ones to die—It must be respected. Many times, family members find it hard to accept because they know they will never see their loved ones walking around, interacting with them, laughing, giving a hug, etc. All these things will come to an end.
The Bible teaches us that we must have a spiritual DNR:
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (Romans 6:1-4)
When someone decides to be baptized, it symbolizes dying in this world and sinful acts. They must have a spiritual (DNR). They don’t accept doing the sinful things that they used to do before the baptism/spiritual burial.
Only you can make this decision. Are you ready to announce your spiritual DNR?
May the God of the Bible bless you!
