What is your biggest distraction?
A distracted driver can be the biggest distraction. How many times have you seen someone texting and driving, and because you’re looking away from the road just a second, you end up going over the next lane? Not one minute but just a second can cause an accident or even take someone’s life!
Something less serious: a housewife preparing a meal for her family while watching her favorite show. A few minutes of distraction, then the smoke alarm sounds; the food got burnt.
No matter the distraction, simple or complex, it always takes away; it never adds. There were two sisters in the Bible days that had an issue because one was distracted.
This is the Bible reference:
“But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” Luke 10:41
She was upset mainly because of her distraction, and she missed the most important thing. Jesus had to point it out to her.
And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:40-42
This Bible story is playing out in many lives today. Take a moment to look at what’s going on in your life. What is distracting you from the most important thing: taking care of your soul?
Is it your busy work schedule?
Is it your favorite hangout?
Is it your favorite TV show?
Is it your favorite sport?
One thing is needed: make time for the salvation of your soul; you can start tomorrow.
Distracted driving can cause physical death.
A spiritually distracted person can lose out on salvation.
