We are reaching the end of the fast of Daniel, and many people want to know what more they can do to receive the Holy Spirit. In the Lord’s Prayer it says ‘Forgive our debts as we forgive our debtors’ If you do not forgive others, how can God forgive you? You may have been praying the Lord’s Prayer since you were little, at school, in the house, you know it like the back of your hand. But though you can recite it by memory, you may be missing the point. You say ‘forgive our debt as we forgive our debtors’, which are those who sin against us. But you know deep down inside of you that you do not forgive.

How can you receive the Holy Spirit which is the Spirit of Forgiveness, if you can not forgive? You have to let go of what has hurt or offended you. And you need to understand something, God will not help you to forgive. That is something that you need to decide to do. You are the one that needs to forgive.

And how do you do that?

First of all by praying for that person who almost destroyed or even destroyed your life. Maybe its your sister, your brother, your own father or mother; your ex, an old friend or anyone else. You are holding these grudges there inside of you. And to let them go, you need to pray for that person. And I don’t mean pray that they “get what they deserve”. I mean pray for God to help them and bless them and take care of them.

Forgive and forget. The Spirit of God is the Spirit of Forgiveness and He expects us to follow His example. Take action today and forgive and let go of what you are holding in. Then yes, The Spirit of God will come inside of you.
