What do you think of a parent telling their child they can’t help them?
The child asking for the new car that was promised.
The child asking for the latest iPhone that was promised.
The child asking to go on the trip that was promised.
The child asking for the financial help that was promised?
The child asking for the keys to the apartment that was promised.
Before you answer the question, I have one more for you…
Do you know the saying that goes like this:
There are two sides to every story.
Let us think as parents, not as the child asking. The first question is this? What were the conditions given before the promised items/gift?
Let’s look at some probabilities:
If you pass your final exams, I will give you… now, fill in all the promises above.
I will give you the balance if you come up with half of the rent.
Next question for you.
Can the parent fulfill the promise if the child didn’t do their part? No, they CAN’T. Not that they don’t want to fulfill, but they just can’t. Do you get the difference between can’t and won’t?
Now, this is the whole point of the matter.
What if you were told that Jesus COULDN’T forgive you? What would you do?
I don’t know what you would do, but I can tell you what you SHOULD do: See who you need to forgive and do it. Because only you can release the promised blessing of His forgiveness.
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (Matthew 6:14-15)
He desires to forgive you, but if you don’t allow Him to do so, He can’t!
What will you do?
May the God of the Bible bless you!
