When you make a commitment to someone and don’t keep it, there’s a distinct feeling of having let that person down. Even if you promise yourself something and don’t keep it, there will certainly be disappointment. Every promise comes with a certain emotional attachment. An attachment that leads to unpleasant feelings or consequences when unfulfilled.

You feel discomfort, guilt, a sense of uneasiness, and if not resolved, it leads to a vicious cycle of broken promises.

Ask yourself this question, how many times have you promised yourself to change your life, or to quit something and did not keep that promise to yourself? Perhaps right now you are feeling discouraged because of it…

Lift up your head, the word of God says,

“And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.” (Deuteronomy 31:8).

Do not be dismayed. Do not give up. Your life can change.

You’ve tried many different ways to change and did not succeed, but the Holy Spirit is the one who can change you completely. Seek Him with all of your strength and with all your heart and He will come live inside of you. He will not forsake you. And He will not break any promises that He makes to you.

By the way, as we are speaking about promises, don’t forget that the Holy Spirit was and is a PROMISE from the Lord Jesus Christ! As it is written;

“He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; or John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Acts 1:4-5

Now if Jesus made this promise, do you really think He would break it?

May the God of the Bible bless you,
