Lasting, existing, serving, or effective for a time only; not permanent.
It can be very comforting to know that something is temporary. For example; you have to wear a boot until that broken ankle heals… Just the thought of knowing that one day that situation will change makes it easier to look forward to better days.
You have no problem driving on your spare tire for a few miles, because you know you will repair the original tire and get back to your regular speed soon. That flat was just temporary!
You accepted a temporary position in your new job because you were told that after three months you will be employed permanently with a salary increase.
All of these are examples, but they show trust as well. You trusted that things will get better because those situations were temporary.
That’s the kind of trust that this Bible verse is referring to;
Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls— Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
Habakkuk 3:17-18
Maybe you are experiencing a very difficult moment in your life right now. But this is what I would like to encourage you to do…
Look at this situation as temporary. It is not a permanent state. Trust is needed in this very moment. The kind of trust that will give you the confidence to rejoice in the Lord no matter what is happening in your life today: I’m talking rain or shine!
This situation will change for the better and you will come out much stronger. Believe it and you will soon see.
May the God of the Bible bless you,
Bishop Bira Joshua
