Those who like sports will clearly understand what I’m about to say. Actually, even those who don’t will surely understand as well.

No matter what your favorite sport is or who your favorite athlete is…

Whether basketball, football, soccer, boxing, swimming or whatever. We all respect a champion’s spirit.

We admire the athlete who broke that record in an amazing way. Even if later on they died and their record gets broken by somebody else; no one ever forgets the fact that they set an amazing record. And they will always be seen as a champion. Why? Because they started the race and finished their race in good standings.

On the other hand, if an athlete gets injured and has to leave his profession too soon, or worse, if he breaks the rules and leaves in disgrace, he will not have the same level of high esteem, because he was unable to finish what he started.

The Apostle Paul said;

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7

This verse is speaking about much more than sport, it’s all about the race of life – and ultimately, our salvation.

In this race of life, it’s not just about starting, it’s about finishing! You will face plenty of opposition and plenty of obstacles. Sometimes you will get “injured” by people or problems along the way. But always remember Paul’s example: He finished. And that what God wants you to do. Finish the race.

Don’t give up! Keep pressing on in faith, and your race will for sure be won.

May the God of the Bible bless you.
