Do you remember the last time you did something extremely important? A job interview, a long trip, maybe even your wedding day. You made sure that everything was prepared, down to the last detail. Knowing that if anything was left for the last minute it would be a big problem.
Everything that is important in life requires preparation. There is a specific story in the Bible that shines a light on just that:
“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. Matthew 25: 1-4
The wise were considered so not because they were better but because they were prepared.
Nowadays, that oil represents the Spirit of God. It takes us through everything; the problems, difficulties and most importantly, protects our salvation. We face daily challenges that at times feel as though they are burning up all of our oil, but we should always strive to have extra. Don’t let your oil run low. If you have been feeling like it’s time for a refill then do just that. Take a moment to refill your oil so that you can always be prepared for whatever life may throw your way.
May the God of the Bible Bless You,
