It is commonly known that these two substances never mix: water and oil. It’s so common, that it has become an idiom for two things (or people) that do not get along. Water and oil not mixing is one of those things that are just fact. Just as two plus two equals four.
The same can be said about light and darkness. Imagine walking into a dark room and having a hard time searching for something. You bump into several furniture items until finally reaching the light switch. What a relief?
This is the change that is experienced when someone turns their life over to God. It’s as if they were walking around in the darkness of their past. The darkness caused by addiction, bad friends, partying and so on. Now, with God, they receive light and life is a lot clearer.
Don’t let your guard down however, because darkness will always try to come knocking. Old friends and feelings may pop up, you may find an old picture that reminds you of “the good old days”, but deep down, you know that those days were far from good!
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. Ephesians 5:8
Make a firm decision to stop dancing with darkness because for as long as you are in the darkness, the light cannot be in you. But the moment that you decide to be in the light, then God Himself bless you in such a way that darkness will be nothing but a distant memory.
May the God of the Bible bless you,
