Have you ever felt the sting of betrayal? Maybe you have been cheated on in a relationship, by a friend, a coworker, or even a member of your own family, and you were left wondering how a person can behave in such a way. The truth is that our actions reflect what is in our heart. If you are someone who betrays others, it’s because your heart is full of betrayal. If you are someone who constantly lies, it’s because lies live in your heart. God has been warning us about this from day one!

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; Who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9

We have to fight against the feelings of our heart every day. The heart is deceitful! It will convince you to go ahead and act on a whim even though you know that what you are doing is wrong. Do you remember that toxic relationship which you knew you shouldn’t have been in, but you went ahead with anyway? Your heart told you to ignore all the red flags and go with that fuzzy, loving feeling you had. But that relationship ended up being one of pain and eventually, you were abandoned and left out in the cold. Now you are alone.

This is the work of the heart. It leads you to wrong relationships, career choices, decisions, and even to wrong places. It doesn’t think about consequences, it just wants what it wants in the moment. Do not allow your heart to deceive you.

The way you can protect yourself from falling into the trap of a deceitful heart, is by asking God to give you a new one. That’s right, ask God to create in you a new heart – one that doesn’t act on a whim; one that is controlled by your mind. He will give it to you and when He does, it means you will have a new way of thinking, behaving and dealing with problems and decisions.

The results of this? Less heartbreak and more conquests!

May the God of the Bible bless you,
