There was a man in the Bible who was living a lie. His name was Jacob. He wanted the blessing that was supposed to go to his brother so bad that he pretended to be his brother in able to get it.

With the help of his mother, he managed to deceive his father into passing on the blessing (which meant that he would prosper and succeed and become a great nation) to him. He placed hair on his arms, and even made himself smell like his brother, who was a hunter. He did everything he could to play the role of his brother.

He accomplished his mission, but at the price of lying to his father. When his father flat out asked him who he was, he said Esau! So he got the “blessing” from his father, but he was not the blessing!

Later in his life, there was a day when he got the opportunity to change his reputation and he took it.

Look what happened:

So He said to him, What is your name?” He said, Jacob.” And He said, Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.” (Genesis 32:27-28)

After that day his life was never the same again. That day was different. That day he became The Blessing.

Today is your day to “fix it” once and for all before God. Don’t be afraid. Say exactly what is wrong in your life, even if you are the one who caused it.

Be sincere with God, don’t pretend; but be willing to do what He instructs you to do to change your life. It will not come easy. It will take sacrifice. But as they say, “no pain, no gain”. He will change your name and make you The Blessing.

Which by the way, only God can do.

May the God of the Bible bless you.
