The dictionary often connects the word repent with remorse. But true repentance has nothing to do with remorse.
Remorse is just to feel sad or grieved over something you’ve done. When you feel remorse over something, you almost always go back and do the same thing over and over again. Because remorse does not change anyones behavior.
It’s as important as the air we breath to understand why you don’t change. If you say you’re going to change, but always end up doing the same things again, there must be a reason why, right? Because what you felt was remorse and remorse does not change our ways.
On the other hand repentance is something caused by the Holy Spirit, only God gives the gift of repentance.
Repentance is to turn away from sin and dedicate oneself to the changes of one’s life.
You feel ashamed of what you have done and you say I am going to correct the mistake I have done. This is to repent! Unless you repent you will never change!
Now you understand this Bible verse:
…”Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” Matthew 3:2
This message is not to accuse you but to help you and now is the moment of decision; what will you do to enter the Kingdom of Heaven?
May the God of the Bible bless you.
