Priority (n) a thing that is regarded as more important than another.

Now that we know the definition of the word, let us imagine a person who has no priorities in life. What does their life look like? It looks like a life without discipline, without order and without meaning the majority of the time. Perhaps you know a person like this – either a family member, friend or maybe this person is you.

Without priorities, our lives become disorganized. Everything is of equal value, and the things that should be receiving more value from us, are negatively affected. This is what leads to certain problems in the marriage, problems at home with the children, problems at work and most importantly, problems with one’s relationship with God – the lack of priorities.

It is not wrong to hold our family, career and dreams to a high standing. However, none of these things can be higher than God’s place in our life. Take a look at what the Word of God says,

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

(Matthew 6:33)

The verse does not say seek in second or third or fourth place for the kingdom of God – it says seek FIRST! Why? Because God knows what we need. He knows what is best for us, and will supply all of our needs once He sees we are prioritizing His kingdom.

When He sees that we prioritize Him above all, meaning we place Him as the most important Being in our lives over everything and anything else, then we also become the apple of His eye! It is a matter of faithfulness and fairness.

You need to place your priorities in line. Perhaps this is what has been lacking all along for your life to move forward. With God as the center of your life, He will guide you to make the right decisions and will protect you and bless you. And above all, He will save your soul and you will spend eternity with Him in His kingdom.

May the God of the Bible bless you
