Jesus said in Matthew 6:33 (NKJV), “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Notice the order Jesus gives. He does not tell us to seek the blessings first. He tells us to seek God first. The blessings are important, but they are not meant to become our primary goal. Our relationship with God should always come before what we hope to receive from Him.
Faith is a powerful gift from God. Through faith, we can ask God for provision, healing, open doors, restored family, and countless other blessings. God invites us to believe Him for His promises. However, while faith can help us receive blessings, God’s greatest desire is not simply to give us things—it is to have a relationship with us.
Think of a child who only calls a parent when they need money, advice, or a favor. While the parent may gladly help, what they truly desire is a genuine relationship with their child. They want conversations, connection, and time together—not just requests. The relationship is more valuable than the benefits it brings.
In the same way, God wants us to trust Him for our needs and desires, but He also wants our souls. Faith should not only be used to obtain blessings; it should draw us closer to the One who provides them.
Continue believing God for breakthroughs in every area of your life. Trust Him for the blessings. But above all, seek His presence and His righteousness. When your relationship with God becomes your highest priority, you’ll discover that the greatest blessing is knowing Him, and all the blessings will be a consequence of that.
May the God of the Bible bless you!
