If you want to make sure that something is accomplished, get it on paper. Nothing is official until the documents are signed. However, not too long ago, a person’s word was their bond. Simply promising something was enough. That attitude is rarely found today but the is one word that remains eternally faithful.
Abraham is a well-known example of seeing God’s promises fulfilled. He is still spoken of today as the father of faith because God’s word became a reality in His life but it began with hearing a word and so the relationship between God and Abraham continued through Abraham trusting in God’s word.
After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” But Abram said, “Lord God, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!”
And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.” Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” Genesis 15: 1-4
God did not have to say it twice. When something is described as exceedingly it means it has already surpassed, it just goes to show the greatness that Abraham was about to receive.
Abraham’s had questions and perhaps you can relate. You are wondering when and where your blessing will come from. It seems as though things are taking a long time and you’ve been stuck with this problem. Only believe in God’s word. This Word applies to you. Have you ever counted the stars? It is impossible because there are so many. This is how the blessings will be for those who continue trusting in the Word of God.
May the God of the Bible blessings you!
