Would you rather someone promise you something and fail in that promise or promise you nothing but come through for you in a great way? Surely you would prefer actions over words. This was the case of two brothers in the Bible:
“But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go, work today in my vineyard.’ He answered and said, ‘I will not,’ but afterward, he regretted it and went. Then he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, ‘I go, sir,’ but he did not go. Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said to Him, “The first.” (Matthew 21: 28- 31)
As children of God, our actions make a more significant impact than our words. At times we may hear things that we don’t like. The Word of God may convict you on things you need to change, a sin you must overcome, or a grudge you need to let go of, and it won’t always be easy to hear. However, God is a Father and would never steer us in the wrong direction.
Anything He tells us to do is for our well-being. The second son didn’t want to go, but because he recognized that his father was instructing him, he humbled himself and accepted his father’s direction. Let your actions speak louder than your words.
Recognize that God is a Father, and when we obey, we reap the rewards of a child. He will care for you, direct you and always ensure that you are taken care of. This is the reward of a child of God.
May the God of the Bible bless you!
