There’s always that moment—usually in the quiet, usually when no one is around—when we ask ourselves if the life we’re living actually feeds our soul. Not our image. Not our comfort. Not our habits. Our soul.
We scroll, we rush, we perform, we accumulate… and yet something inside us whispers, “Is this really what matters?” It’s funny how we might sacrifice sleep for work, peace for approval, or purpose for convenience. However, when it comes to nurturing our souls, we hesitate as if it’s optional.
Isaiah 53:5 reminds us that Jesus’ sacrifice was not easy. Nevertheless, He chose to complete it:
“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.”
Jesus didn’t just give up comfort, convenience, or a few hours of sleep—He gave His life. He suffered so that we could receive salvation. He was pressed from every side. Similar to an olive that is pressed to extract the purest oil. When we remember that, suddenly the sacrifices we struggle with—letting go of a grudge, making time to seek God, sacrificing our will don’t seem difficult.
So maybe the real question is: “What am I willing to sacrifice?”
May the God of the Bible bless you!
