Many sicknesses affect humanity these days; some can be cured while others can only be treated—no one chooses to acquire an illness or disease.
Let’s talk about amnesia: the inability to remember events for a period of time, often due to brain injury, illness, or the effects of drugs or alcohol.
No one wants to go out of their way to cause themselves injury and pain. But how often do people do the very thing that causes them pain?
Paul gave a remedy to avoid such pains:
“..but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.” (Philippians 3:13)
Paul was talking about the good things he had achieved, but because he wanted to protect his faith against pride, even the good things he had left behind, he focused on the things ahead!
Let us reason: if he decided to forget the good things to protect his faith, how much more should we forget the bad things to protect our faith and our salvation?
You won’t be able to achieve in the future if you still hold on to the past.
Let us look forward.
It is impossible to accomplish what is in front if you keep looking behind.
If you are not reaching forward, then you are going backward. When you look behind, your past holds you back.
You don’t need to want to have amnesia; you can decide to forget the past. This action is within your power; use it for your own good.
May the God of the Bible bless you!
