When you have no ride and you have to go where you want to go on foot it’s humiliating, it’s embarrassing, isn’t it? When you have been standing in the grocery line and realize that you don’t have enough money to even buy your food, it’s embarrassing. When your children as you to buy something because they really need it and you can not afford it, it’s a shame.

God wants you to drive the best car and live in the best house. You cannot accept to live life in misery financially or trading one sickness for another sickness. You leave one job making peanuts only to go to another job making peanuts… it’s a shame. There was a widow in Israel in the city of Zarephath, that believed in God. When the Prophet Elijah came to her and asked her for water she had water to give. But how many people, the only thing they have is water. The fridge is always empty. Just water and eggs. Maybe not even milk do they have.

Elijah asked, can I have water and she said yes. As she was going to get the water, Elijah asked for a cake. She had no cake, she had no food. She said:

“As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.” 1Kings 17:12

He said, No. Go in and bake the cake as you have said. But first, bring it to me. Elijah knew that she was a widow and the only provider for her son. But he did not feel sorry for her. Feeling sorry, pity or mercy does not change your situation. He asked her to do what was hard.

The rest of the story went down in history. She believed in what he said, brought to him the first cake and then he blessed her and she went back and made many more cakes and her flour and oil did not run out.

God wants you to have for yourself and not have to depend on anybody else. Listen to the Voice of God and do not accept a life of misery, because that’s not what God wants for you. Do like the widow and give to God what He asks, and He will multiply in your life.

May the God of the Bible Bless you
