Does this look familiar? Perhaps you can recite this entire prayer, but let us examine this particular verse. It doesn’t talk about tomorrow or the day that passed. It focuses on the day at hand.
Many people are stressed because they are not focusing on the day at hand. They find themselves stuck in the past, wondering what could have been, or what they could have done differently, or thinking about missed opportunities or people that did them wrong. As a result, they often find themselves struggling to move forward.
Focus on the daily bread. We see that the Lord Jesus, when He taught this prayer, didn’t think about the day before or even the date ahead because tomorrow is in the hands of God. We have no control over life for even one second into the future, and we certainly cannot change the past, so what is the use of crying over spilled milk?
Live in the present and surrender your future to God.
“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old.” Isaiah 43:18
May the God of the Bible bless you!
