Do you know what it is to be hungry?
I am sure that not everyone will answer yes to the question.
But you who know what it is to be hungry understand what I am talking about.
That desire to eat something, but there is nothing to eat?
Nothing to satisfy your hunger. Then your stomach starts to make that embarrassing sound, making matters worse!
That’s the experience of feeling hungry. What about the feeling when you receive food, oh what a moment! Even if it is not your favorite meal or portion size, just the fact that you got food makes all the difference!
If you were feeling weak, you find yourself with a little strength, and that sound your stomach was making slowly fades away. The food you received at that moment made all the difference, and you will never forget this experience!
Today, you have all the conditions to eat or drink whenever and wherever you please—what a fantastic feeling this is!
Now, let’s take a journey to understand spiritual hunger—it’s that person who is hungry for the Word of God.
Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts. (Jeremiah 15:16)
Those who are incarcerated are hungry for the Word of God, and it’s not their stomach that is making noise. It’s their voices; they are getting into arguments and fights because they are hungry for the Word of God!
The Word of God teaches and sanctifies, it heals and saves the soul! This is the greatest gift one can receive: the Word of God. It will provide the most important food to fill the spiritual hunger of the soul.
