Many people confuse the two and treat them with the same meaning. But faith and trust are two different words when it comes to action, but they work together.

Faith is the starting point, and trust is the continuation (like the point that starts and continues as a line)

Take, for example, someone that says they have faith in you. But when it comes to showing trust with something very important, they don’t. They could have faith in you, that you will do one thing well, but that doesn’t mean they trust you with something bigger.

Another example is that of the young man that is problematic and his third court case. His grandmother says she has faith that he will do the right thing, but when the opportunity arises for her to put her house up for his bail, she refuses. This clearly shows that she does not trust him, though she has faith in him. Simply put, she was not willing to place her head on the chopping block for him.

It’s the same with many people who profess that they have faith and trust in God, but when it comes to taking action to show it, they doubt it in the end.

There was a man in the Bible that had faith to walk on water, but when it was time to show the trust to remain walking on it, he failed horribly!

Take a look at this:

And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”

So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.

But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

He showed faith to start the journey, but he lacked the trust to complete the journey.

Don’t allow this to happen to you. Remember, the two must walk together (faith and trust).

If you have faith in the living God, then you must trust that He will deliver you from the dangers of today. He will not stop you from going into the lion’s den, but when you trust Him, He delivers you from the mouth of the lion!

Everyone has faith, but not everyone has trust. Are you lacking one or the other… or both?

May the God of the Bible bless you.
