“The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.”

(Psalms 46:11)

If God is your refuge, if He is your fortress, you don’t need to fear your problems, though they may seem big and overwhelming. If your life is totally on the altar, if He is your refuge, your shelter, you are protected. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling. There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn… Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:1-5,10).

Though the earth should change and though the mountains be shaken, though the waters roar and foam, the river of the Holy Spirit flows quietly through the sanctuary where He promises to be with us. It is up to those who believe to obey the Lord’s command; “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Quieten your heart today and believe that God is with you. Trust in what He promised: those who make Him their refuge find help and protection in Him.
