“In case of an emergency leave all personal belongings behind and look for the nearest exit.” This may sound familiar. You’ll hear it in most safety prompts. That’s because, as I’m sure we can all agree, items can be replaced. No matter how much sentimental value it may hold, or how expensive it may have been, it can eventually be replaced. However, you cannot be replaced.

In the hustle and bustle of trying to gain, we can often forget that the most precious thing we have is not a car, house, the latest clothes or jewelry, but in fact it is something that is not seen with the human eye and it cannot be bought with money. It is our soul.

There was a certain king in Abraham’s time that was well aware of what was truly important. He tried to make a deal with Abraham after he had just had a great victory when he said:

“Now the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the persons, and take the goods for yourself.”” Genesis 14:21

Abraham could have easily been caught up in the things he had gained. He could have looked at all the goods and thought they were the most important thing but he didn’t allow himself to be deceived.

While it is good to have a fulfilled life, items can’t replace our eternity. Do not be deceived. Nothing is more precious than your soul. All the riches in the world cannot purchase a single soul. In fact, Jesus has already purchased your soul. Do not trade it for anything this world has to offer. Don’t bargain with your soul.

May the God of the Bible bless you!
