Mount Everest’s highest point is recorded at 29,029 feet. So, you can imagine that if you stood at the bottom and called to someone standing at its peak, they would not hear you. Not even a single word would make it to their ears. It’s simply a fact that the further away we are, the harder it is to communicate. Fortunately, this human limitation does not apply to our communication with God.

For thus says the High and Lofty One
Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
“I dwell in the high and holy place,
With him who has a contrite and humble spirit,
To revive the spirit of the humble,
And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Isaiah 57:15

Many people have felt as though God does not hear them. Perhaps you were one of these people one day or are one of these people right now. It seems your prayers are hitting the ceiling and bouncing right back, but God’s Word assures us that God does not turn a blind eye to anyone who calls upon Him.

There is no distance when it comes to our communication with God. You can be sure that He hears you, and when He sees those who are broken calling Him, He extends His hands to put them back together.

Perhaps you are as the Bible verse describes: you are living in guilt, your “ceiling” is the mistakes of your past, and you feel they are still blocking your prayers from reaching God. Put those doubts aside and look instead to what the word of God says. It tells you that God does hear you and will answer you when you call upon Him.

May the God of the Bible bless you!
