In this day and age, no one wants to be delayed. No one wants to miss their flight, so what do they do? They arrive at the Airport hours before their scheduled flight.

No one wants to miss the train, so they arrive at the train station minutes before the scheduled time.

No one wants to miss their doctor or dental appointment, so they arrive before the scheduled time.

No one wants to lose their job, so they arrive on time to start their day at work.

No one wants to miss a grade for not turning in their project, so what do they do? Complete the project before the summer break ends.

We can all agree that no one likes to be delayed, right? Now I have a question: if people don’t like delays, why do they delay themselves? Yes, you heard me. Take a look at how this woman delayed her blessing.

So it was, year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, that she provoked her; therefore she wept and did not eat.
(1 Samuel 1:7)

This woman delayed her blessing when she allowed her emotions to get the better of her. She delayed her blessing when she desired to have a child only to show her rival she could bear a child. During this time, she was still miserable and childless because she wanted a child for her glory!

Her situation only changed when she put aside her desires and made a vow to the God of the Bible! It was only then her situation changed from misery to joy!

Then she made a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.” (1 Samuel 1:11)

This time, her action ended many years of delay in her life! Do not allow this to happen to you. Put away selfish desires and self-glory. May your blessings be solely to bring honor and glory to the name of Jesus Christ!

If this is your intention, then make your vow and fulfill it. You will have no more delays, and your blessings will be on time.

May the God of the Bible bless you!
