When something is vastly different from another, you will often hear people use the term “apples and oranges.” The difference between those things is apparent. While they are both fruits, their color, taste, smell, and even appearance are completely different. This can also apply to us. As human beings, we are the same in many ways, but those who strive to live a life with God must have apparent differences. Simply put: in a world of oranges, we must be the apples.
The Bible teaches us to steer clear of those who practice evil.
“Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord…” Psalms 1: 1-2
Were we to follow the practices of the “ungodly,” we would be doomed to suffer the same fate as them. Many get caught in unfortunate situations simply because of the company they keep. People who faced time behind bars or even lost their lives simply because they were in the “wrong place, at the wrong time.”
If we think about this practically, when we walk with God, we have no business walking in the wrong places. This is why the Word of God urges us to stay away. This is not a word of judgment but a warning. Everyone has the choice to walk on the right path. If you have chosen this path, then flee from the “path of sinners.”
May the God of the Bible bless you!
