How many times have you experienced this attitude in people? Sometimes, without even saying, “I don’t care,” the action of refusing says it all.
Maybe a son or daughter you tried to warn of a certain action, but they refuse your advice, only to end up in trouble: behind bars, in the hospital, or even dead.
That patient, whom the doctor warned that eating too much salt/sugar is affecting their health, refused the advice, only to end up treating an illness.
That student who refused to pay attention in class only to miss out on graduation.
Two brothers in Bible days had something valuable (birthright), but one had the “I don’t care” attitude.
And Esau said, “Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?” (Genesis 25:32)
He only saw the value of this birthright when it was too late! And he wept bitterly!
And Esau said to his father, “Have you only one blessing, my father? Bless me—me also, O my father!” And Esau lifted up his voice and wept. (Genesis 27:38)
