Many believers understand that salvation is a gift from God, but sometimes they wonder if they can truly hold on to it. If God chose you to receive it, He also intends for you to keep it.

Jesus said in John 15:16, “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain…”

Notice that Jesus did not simply say He chose His followers. He also said that what He produces in their lives should remain. God’s calling is not temporary or uncertain. It is lasting.

Think about a skilled gardener who carefully selects a young tree for his garden. He doesn’t plant it with the expectation that it will be uprooted every season. He chooses it, plants it, waters it, and protects it so it can grow and remain healthy for years to come. The gardener’s commitment doesn’t end when the tree is planted; it continues as the tree grows.

In a similar way, God did not choose you merely to begin a relationship with Him. He chose you with the intention of nurturing, strengthening, and preserving you. Salvation is not sustained by human effort alone but by the faithfulness of the One who called you.

When doubts arise, remember Jesus’ words: “I chose you.” The God who chose you for salvation is also committed to accomplishing His purpose in your life and helping you remain in Him.

May the God of the Bible bless you!
