Friends get busy, family misunderstands, and even those closest to us have their own lives and problems that come with it. It’s a difficult truth—but it’s also just the thing many need to realize where we need to place our dependence.

In Psalm 142:5, it says, “I cry to you, Lord; I say, ‘You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.’”

While people may fail, God never does.

Imagine someone going through a difficult season—perhaps they’ve lost a job or are facing a health problem. They reach out to others but don’t receive the support they expected. They say how sorry they are to hear the bad news, but that’s it. There is no actual solution to the problem. It’s easy to feel abandoned in those moments.

Yet, when we turn to God in prayer, we find peace, and He begins to open doors that no human response could fully provide. That’s the difference between relying on people and trusting in God: one is limited, the other does the impossible.

God is always present, always listening, and always faithful.

If you have been going through a difficult moment and feel like people have failed you, lean not on people alone, but place your full dependence on God, your refuge.

May the God of the Bible bless you!
