In just a few days, you will have one more year under your belt. There are many invitations about where you should spend the end of your year, but there is one place you can’t afford not to stop by—the altar. People often look for God’s will in big decisions or difficult moments but overlook the simple joy of coming before Him.

King David knew the importance of going to the altar, and in Psalm 43:4 he says, “Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy…”

When we go to the altar, it represents standing before God’s will. Maybe this year you sought so many others’ wills—the opinions of friends and family, social media, trends, or even your own—but end this year before God’s will. As the clock is winding down, examine your year and make time to go before God’s presence.

Going to the altar means stopping to ask for God’s direction. It means putting aside personal plans and allowing God’s will to prevail. The altar isn’t just the front of the church—it represents God’s presence, and when we stand before Him, we allow His will to work in our lives.

May the God of the Bible bless you!
