I like to pray and read my Bible first thing in the morning. This is my way of starting my day: First things first.
How do you start your day?
Maybe you start your day with a morning run.
Maybe you start your day with a cup of coffee.
Maybe you start your day with prayer and Bible reading as well.
I am fully aware that not all my readers are active churchgoers; maybe you start your day with a smoke.
Listen, I am not here to judge but to help. What if your doctor told you that’s not a good way to start your day because, one day, it will affect your lungs and could even cost you your life over time? Would you trade your way for the way the doctor guides you?
There was a young man in Bible Days who was living according to his way. This is his story:
The young man said unto Him, “All these things have I kept from my youth up. What lack I yet?” Jesus said unto him, “If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell what thou hast and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in Heaven; and come and follow Me.” But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. (Matthew 19:20-22)
Jesus told him, in other words, “Your way is not the correct way. Try to do it My way.” The young man refused to follow Jesus and held on to his own way.
This post is not meant to make you religious or a churchgoer; it’s intended to present you with two options and allow you to choose: your way or God’s way.
If you decide you want to do it God’s way, don’t take my word for it. You can find His way, in the best place: The Word of God, The Bible! What better way to end a year and start a new one?
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105)
Allow the Word of God to be the lamp to your feet and light to your path!
How many years have you been starting the year “your way?”
