If we stub our toe, bump our elbow, or even get a paper cut, we immediately know where the pain is coming from. It’s easy to identify pain when it is in a specific physical area. We can bandage, dress, and treat that kind of pain.
However, some pains go beyond the physical body—pains that originate deep within the soul. Depression comes from the soul. And no bandage or balm can ease that pain.
Job was very familiar with this kind of suffering. He didn’t just lose physical possessions—he lost his children. He experienced loss after loss, to the point where he said:
“May the day perish on which I was born,
And the night in which it was said,
‘A male child is conceived.’” Job 3:3
Job began to regret the very day he was born because of the immense pressure and sorrow he faced. Perhaps you can relate to that as well. You walk past many people throughout your day, even putting a smile on your face. You complete your tasks, care for everyone and everything around you—but deep inside your soul, there’s a pain that nothing seems able to touch.
You are not alone. God sees your pain, even when no one else can—and He can heal you. He is the Healer of souls. What nothing and no one else has been able to fix, He can. Perhaps you’ve tried everything you could think of to ease the pain, even if just for a moment. But God is the only true solution. His healing isn’t temporary—He offers complete freedom and lasting peace.
May the God of the Bible bless you!
