This past Sunday, we celebrated Father’s Day. I hope you had a great day. I have a question for the fathers: How would you feel if your child got up early yesterday this past Sunday and went to their friend’s house first to wish their friend’s dad a Happy Father’s Day? Would you feel disrespected and hurt?
No one wants to be left in last place. I believe you would feel disregarded by your child, and this action would affect your relationship with your child negatively.
There would be many thoughts and questions in your mind: You would feel dishonored, right? Of course, there is nothing wrong with wishing a friend’s dad Happy Father’s Day. However, it would make all the difference if your child told you Happy Father’s Day first before going off to a stranger. This action is small, but if they had told you first, they would have shown love and respect to you.
King David loved and respected the Lord, and he always strived to please the Lord! Of course, he made mistakes, but he always made it clear that his help came from the Lord!
I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. (Psalm 16:8-9)
This was something he purpose within himself, to put the Lord in the first place. The Lord was his defender. Now tell me, if the God of the Bible is your defender, who can destroy you? When He is your defender, the enemy would have to go through Him to get to you, and we all know that’s impossible because before they move you, they will have to move your God!
Follow the example of King David: Put the God of the Bible in the first place always and enjoy the strongest defense system!
Pray and put Him first before making your appointments.
Put Him before you take a test.
Put Him before you decide on your relationship.
Put Him before everything and anything!
