We all need new things in life, especially when our things begin to get old—Like a new pair of shoes, clothing, or even a new house or car. Many things we have will eventually get old and need to be replaced. Just as the Word of God explains about our heart:

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26

When God promises a new heart, it is because the one we have is old. Each one of us was born with an old heart. Perhaps you may ask, “Even a newborn baby?” But it isn’t about the physical organ that beats inside our chest. It’s about the soul.

For example, a child who is a product of abuse, or even entered this world already being cursed from the womb, or is unwanted. Many of us face things, even from childhood, that mold our hearts. This is why God promises to take our old heart from within us and give us a new heart. He will take the heart of stone out.

Just imagine a person having a stone sitting inside them, where their heart should be—This is how many live. But God promises to give us a tender heart that can hear His voice and change. Many cannot hear God’s voice because their hearts have been hardened. However, God will remove this hard heart, and the old mindset will change. Your heart will change, and your life will follow suit. You won’t be the same person with the same mistakes. He will make you new.

May the God of the Bible bless you!
