Imagine driving a car and constantly looking through the rearview mirror. How far do you think you’d get before crashing? Not very far. That’s exactly what happens when we try to move forward in life but keep looking back at our past—the mistakes, the failures, the regrets. Instead of focusing on where God wants to take us, we remain stuck, distracted, and lost.

Jesus once said something very clear:

“But Jesus said to him, ‘No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.’” Luke 9:62

This may sound strong, but it’s the truth. You can’t move ahead in faith if your eyes are always behind you. You can’t grow if you’re still holding on to what God told you to let go of. Many are not seeing progress in their spiritual life because they’re still attached to old habits, relationships, or ways of thinking. They want to follow Jesus, but only if they can keep parts of their past.

Following Jesus requires full focus. It means putting both hands on the plow—committing fully to have a life with God—and not looking back. That doesn’t mean pretending the past never happened. It means understanding that God has forgiven you, and it’s time for you to forgive yourself too.

Maybe you’ve been stuck, constantly revisiting what went wrong in your life. But right now, you can decide to look forward. To stop letting your past define your present. God is calling you to something greater, but you won’t reach it unless you let go of what’s behind you.

You may feel like you’ve lost too much time. But with God, it’s never too late to start over. Today, you can decide to move forward and not look back.

May the God of the Bible bless you!
