It is clear something is missing from the title of this post. Let’s fill in the blank with some examples:
Who or what can separate you from the love you have for your child? If your child gets in trouble at school, are you still their parent? Do you still love your child? Can you stop loving your child because of their mistakes?
What can separate you from loving your child?
Who or what can separate you from the love of your parents? When you made a mistake, did they stop loving you? Did they kick you to the curb?
When someone TRULY loves, they stick with you through thick or thin! Now let me clarify: they might not love the mistakes you committed, but they don’t allow it to affect their love for you, right? (Of course, I’m not talking about cases of abuse. In this case, not even love should be a reason to stay and suffer abuse).
Now, let me get personal with you on a spiritual level. How much do you LOVE the Lord Jesus Christ? Take a minute before you answer, read this Bible verse, and know that no matter what, He loves us. He doesn’t love our sins, but He loves us!
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. (Romans 8:35-37)
Our love for a family member should never be more than our love for the Lord. If we are willing to tolerate a lot due to our love for family, then we must be able to love Him, who is without fault much more!
If, after reading the Bible verse, you could affirm that nothing has separated you from His love. Very well, keep it this way.
But if you realize you have allowed moments of hardship to separate you from Him, you can correct this right now. Like any hurt child, get up, run to His arms, and ask for His forgiveness. He will never turn you away—this is how much He loves you!
May the God of the Bible bless you!
