Imagine someone saying, “ I love you!” one hundred times a day, but at the same time, betrays you, lies, or mistreats you. What is that love worth? Not much. Words are easy to say, but action is what proves that love.
The same goes for our faith in God. It’s easy for someone to call themselves a Christian or to claim they believe or have faith, but without actions, they are just words, and words are cheap.
Perhaps you are wondering how faith can be put into action. Take a look at this Bible verse:
Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. (James 2:21-23)
Abraham was willing to give up his son. We must also be willing to give up anything and anyone for God. A mature faith recognizes that what is put on the Altar will be returned to you to glorify God’s name. Faith with no sacrifice to support it will be a cheap faith.
May the God of the Bible bless you!
