Imagine going to the doctor. After a series of exams and check-ups, the doctor delivers a shocking statement: you have cancer, and your time is limited—perhaps only four more days, a week, a month, or if you are lucky, even a year. How would you react? Many might say they would live each day as if it were their last, striving to enjoy life and doing things they have never done before.
Now, imagine receiving a final statement from your spouse who wants a divorce or hearing that your son or daughter is involved with drugs. These moments are devastating and can feel like the end.
There’s a story in the Bible of a man who received a death sentence but didn’t accept it as the final word. Instead, he remembered that the last word belongs to the Lord. He turned his face to the wall and cried out to God, pouring out his heart and tears. God saw his tears and heard his prayers.
”I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now, you will go up to the temple of the LORD. I will add fifteen years to your life.“ (2 Kings 20:5-6)
Hezekiah, the king, received a final statement from God—not of death, but of life. God extended his life and blessed him.
In your darkest moments, when you feel like all hope is lost, you can turn to God. Pour out your heart, your tears, and your prayers to Him. The final statement from God is one of blessing, restoration, and hope. He can bless your marriage, your health, and your family. Trust in His final word, for it is one of life, not death.
May the God of the Bible bless you!
