Our words hold power. So much so that the Word of God says that death and life lie in our tongues. With that being said, it is easy to forget about using our words for life in the face of a problem. Think about it. Would you want someone constantly following you around, reminding you of all the horrible things in your life? Someone telling you, “Remember you’re sick!” “Remember you’re unemployed.” “Remember your family wants nothing to do with you.” How terrible that would be.

But more often than not, you don’t need anyone doing this because perhaps you are that person. You claim your problem as an identity. “I am diabetic” “Cancer runs in the family.” “I’m never able to keep a job.” Do you see the similarities? Perhaps you have been your own worst enemy, giving credit to the problem instead of embracing the power of life.

The Bible tells the story of a man who had been blind since birth. That’s what he was known for but the day the Lord Jesus offered him a solution, he left that identity behind.

“He answered and said, ‘A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received sight.’” John 9:11

His glory was now given to Jesus. From that day on he became the man who was healed by Jesus. Stop giving glory to your current problem. Speak life and consider yourself that person who Jesus has already healed. That person with a blessed family. That person whose peace comes from the Lord Jesus. Give your glory to Him.

May the God of the Bible bless you!
