Did you play the game ‘Opposites’ when you were a child?

The rules are simple, whatever is said you would do the opposite.

If you were told to lift your right hand, you would lift your left hand.

If you were told to run, you would walk. If you were told to stand you would sit.

If you were told to close your eyes, you would open your eyes, and so on.

Another fun game was ‘Simon Says’. The rule was simple, you only obey the command if ‘Simon Says’ was spoken before the command.

Those were the days, when it was so easy to follow the rules, the commands of these games right?

Take a look at this Bible verse:

Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar, and remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First, be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. (Matthew 5:23-24).

This verse teaches us to go against the ‘norm’ and do what many refuse to do. “Why should I go and reconcile?” “He/she hurt me first!” “They need to come and reconcile with me!” Many would have this reaction.

Now you understand the name of this post: The Power of Doing the Opposite.

This world mostly runs by doing the opposite of what is written in the Bible. Now it’s up to each of us to live by the Word of God or to live according to this world.

This world says, payback, but the Word of God says forgive.

No one is obligated to do anything. The decision is yours. The power of doing the opposite is in your hands.

Let me finish with the childhood memory: do you remember how happy you were when you obeyed the rules and won the game?

Now imagine winning with God. His prizes are priceless!

May the God of the Bible bless you!
