Most of us start our days the same way: checking the phone, rushing through getting ready, and thinking about work, bills, or what to have for dinner. Somewhere in the middle of all that, we might think, “I should read my Bible today.” Perhaps we’ll squeeze in a quick verse, or maybe we might plan to read it later and never quite make it there.
Reading God’s Word was never meant to stop at just receiving information; always, it was meant to lead to obedience. Over and over, the Bible reveals a clear pattern: those who listened to God and acted on His Word experienced His blessing. On the other hand, those who ignored or resisted His Word faced real consequences.
Think about Noah. He obeyed God even when it didn’t make sense and probably made him look foolish. The result? Protection, favor, and a fresh start. Or Joshua, who followed God’s instructions faithfully—sometimes in unusual ways—and saw victory after victory. On the other hand, there are many examples of disobedience, and their downfall was great. Each person had the “information,” but not all of them obeyed.
Daily Bible reading puts us in a position to hear God. Obedience is how we respond. The blessing doesn’t come just from knowing what God says, but from living it at work, at home, in our relationships, and in the decisions that no one else sees.
God’s Word still works the same way today. When we read it daily and choose obedience, we’re not just practicing discipline—we’re building a life shaped by God’s Word—a blessed life.
May the God of the Bible bless you!
