If you could make a checklist of what it means to be a child of faith, what would it look like? Probably something similar to this:
✔️ I go to church twice a week.
✔️ I participate in a church group.
✔️ I declare that I am “saved” or “born again.”
✔️ I know the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.
✔️ I have been in church all my life.
These are great attributes, but one thing is missing for many who call themselves children of faith: actual faith. It’s easy to do the things listed above, but many times, it’s hard to have the kind of faith that Abraham did.
“Just as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Galatian 3:6
Abraham’s faith was one unlike any other. He was willing to give up everything for Jesus—his family, son, everything he knew. He built Altar after Altar to God because his faith was a true faith. It did not go unnoticed. As the Bible says, “it was accounted to him for righteousness.” I suppose you could say that Abraham had credit with God because whatever He asked, Abraham did.
Now is the time to think, is this the kind of faith you have? The number of years in a church, the people you know, and the Bible verses you can quote are not enough if this kind of Abrahamic faith is missing. This pure and obedient faith is what allows God’s Word to be fulfilled in a person’s life.
“Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.“ Galatian 3:7
May the God of the Bible bless you!
