Imagine you were in a room and discovered that there was a time bomb in that same room with you, and it was active and ticking down. What would you do? I don’t even have to ask, you would get out of there as fast as possible. Why? Because your life depended on it! If you stay there staring at it, you will soon die.

The same risk applies to temptation. Many people stay staring the temptation in the face, thinking that they are strong enough to withstand it. But that is foolish. The dictionary definition of temptation is a desire to do something, especially something wrong or unwise. So if you desire to do it, why play with fire? Why try to be stronger than the thing that is tempting you? Are you stronger than a bomb? No. So then you are not stronger than the sin that is grabbing for your attention.

There is only one way to overcome temptation, and the answer is written in the Word of God. It says:

Abstain from all appearance of evil.” 1Thessalonians 5:22

You see the Word of God does not say to face the evil. It does not say to play around with it. It says to ABSTAIN, or in other words, to flee from it. If you do not get away from evil, it will cause you to fall. And when you fall, it will be very hard to get back up. So you must learn to treat evil like a time bomb… get away from it. Get out of the room! Or else, will you wait for it to blow?

May the God of the Bible Bless You
