If you are overly attached to a religion, then what I am about to say, may not go down too well with you. But as you have probably guessed, I’m going ahead with it anyway!

The reason I’m writing this post, is because there are too many frustrated people who are following a religion in good faith, but are getting no results. They do not see God’s power in their life.

Yes, I’m speaking to you who are recognized for attending church A, B, C or D and delight in that fact that you know Pastor E, F, G and H. You grew up reciting Bible verses and even attained a position in your church. However, your personal life, leaves a lot to be desired for.

Your health is deteriorating daily, your finances are a mess and your family are all separated and living in problems. Not to mention the doubts, fears and bouts of depression you suffer. For such an avid follower this is unacceptable!

Haven’t you ever questioned why after visiting so many churches, you still feel empty?

Do you not wonder why all those traditions you follow bring no benefit to you? And I’m not talking about going through life hoping for empty promises of ‘blessings’ to come. I’m talking about you experiencing real changes in your life – real power that comes from God.

I warn you: Be careful of religion and religious leaders! If you have been following such, please run a mile and free yourself.

When Jesus walked the earth, He was constantly scolding religious leaders and warning against their teachings/traditions. Why do you think that was?

It’s because religion acts as a barrier that separates you from the power of God.

• It’s stops you from reasoning and using the intelligent faith that God has gifted you with.

• It makes you live in fear of being imperfect (and even causes you to live a lie in order to avoid your imperfections being noticed)

• It stops you from building a true relationship with God because you are so focused on following doctrines

• And of course, it stops you from seeing the results of your faith – how can you experience power from Someone you have never met?

There are so many more ways that religion is bad for you – I’m sure you get the point.

Religion is not the solution you need. The solution comes through faith in the God of the Bible, and you have direct access to him. Church should be a place that facilitates this access – not a place that adds obstacles.

May the God of the Bible bless you.

Bishop Joshua Fonseca
