“So the Lord said to Joshua: ‘Get up! Why do you lie thus on your face”
(Joshua 7:10)

God’s command was straightforward. “Get up! Why do you lie thus on your face?” You can tell that God was displeased with his attitude. Joshua was feeling defeated, not knowing why he’d lost a battle when God had promised to be with him.

God responds commanding him to get up and put his feelings aside. They lost the battle because they’d disobeyed. They didn’t do what He’d said, and so they were defeated. It’s as simple as that. Victory is conditional on obedience. Had all the cursed things been removed from among the people, they’d have won all their battles.

In other words, God’s direction was, “Get up, stop mourning, and go do something to change this situation. If sin has entered their camp, get the sin out of the camp.” God commanded Joshua to stop the whining and take action.

If you’re prostrate, get up now!
