Have you ever noticed that when a persons family member commits suicide, normally after the death the family members think back and remember the tendencies of the person. The mother may say, “I remember he started separating himself from everyone. He was posting a lot of dark and hopeless messages on social media. He was talking about death a lot.” And so forth and so on. The family member realizes that this person was inclined (leaning toward) hurting themselves.

Whatever you are inclined to do, you wind up doing. If you are inclined to money, you will end up doing anything… including wrong things, to get money. If you are inclined to sexual sin, you will end up falling into it. If you are inclined to pride or vanity or puffed up self worth, then you will end up sinning because of it. This is not my opinion, it is biblical. Look what Paul says in the book of Romans.

For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:6

What you are inclined to show your intention and desire. It shows where your mind is. And if your mind is not on spiritual things, you will end up giving into the flesh.

Each person needs to examine themselves and see what is their inclination. What grabs your attention? What tempts you the most? That is your biggest threat and you need to strengthen yourself and flee away from it.

That’s one reason that you need the Holy Spirit. When you are baptized in the Holy Spirit, He will help you to steer away from the evil desires inside of you. He gives discipline and self control and will empower you to overcome your flesh.

Put your effort and strength into pleasing Him and running far from the inclinations of the flesh, and you will not give in to them or fall away from God.

May the God of the Bible bless you
