No one wants to die. In fact, it’s probably at the top of the list of most people’s fears. Many spend countless hours trying to prevent it or at least prolong it for as long as possible. It terrifies a person to think about how they can or might die. Of course, when you look at death in a physical sense, it is full of uncertainties, especially the when and how.

Even though physical death can be intimidating. Spiritually we are encouraged to die every day. The Apostle Paul said in the Book of Romans that nothing should be able to separate us from the love (power) of Christ. Then he continued with,

“For Your sake we are killed all day long;

We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

(Romans 8:36)

How are we killed every day? Obviously, if a person was killed physically, it could only happen one time and then it would be over. But each day we are killed (or attacked, criticized for our faith, persecuted, lied on, defamed, etc) by those who doubt or don’t understand our faith.

To be killed every day also signifies how each and every day we must die to our will. We die to the world outside every day. And every day we need to kill the desires for the world and the things that it has to offer. As we can see in this difficult time period when sports events, restaurants, night clubs, big parties and all of the other so-called fun things that the world offers, are not available and are unable to bring the temporary false joy that they usually bring. At this moment people need real joy, real peace, and real happiness. Which in actuality only comes from God.

The Lord Jesus is and will always be available for those who call upon Him and turn to Him. The only thing is, you must be willing to kill you will every day in order to receive what He has to offer.

May the God of the Bible bless you,
