“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

(2 Timothy 1:7)

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Power, not of fear. Those who have the Spirit of God have the character of God. They can’t accept being cowards. Of course, not everyone wants to have their lives on display for the sake of their faith. But there are some who excel. They sacrifice their lives because of what they believe in. Power, love and self-discipline are the characteristics of those who have God’s Spirit.

They’re like the Gadites who helped David. The Bible says that they were “mighty men of valor, men trained for battle, who could handle shield and spear, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as gazelles on the mountains […] the least was over a hundred, and the greatest was over a thousand.” (1 Chronicles 12:8,14)

The least of them was equal to one hundred trained soldiers. Each one was an army. They were more than ordinary soldiers. They didn’t accept being just faces in the crowd. God didn’t skimp on granting power to His faithful in the past, nor does He do so in the present. He has prepared His children for war so that there will be no chance for their enemies to prevail.

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4).

Those born of the Spirit of God never lose. Their apparent losses, failures, frustrations and disappointments are nothing more than preparation to join the Spirit of God’s special forces. For them, everything works together for good! Everything… When they win, they rejoice. When they lose, they find out later that they’ve still won even so.

If you are of God, you’ve received the Spirit of Power, not of cowardice.
